A DISTINGUISHED LEGACY

In London 1919, Jason’s grandfather and great-uncle founded Kirk Brothers, an optical designer and manufacturer well ahead of its time.

Adapting a sewing machine into a lens cutter, the brothers were the first to introduce flexible fit frames, facelift nose-pads and bullet-proof lenses – delivered direct to customers on motorbikes throughout the ‘20s and ‘30s.

A NEW GENERATION

Neville Kirk, Jason’s father, continued in the optical trade, with practices in and around London, but it wasn’t until 1992, that Jason, then a marketing executive for L’Oreal, fell in love with eyewear.

In his father’s old practice, he discovered a cache of Kirk Brothers metal frames from the ‘50s and ‘60s and decided to reproduce the frames and bring them to a modern market. On meeting Karen, a graphic designer, they began to create their own original frames, inspired by the Kirk heritage but using modern acetates.

Their first business, Kirk Originals, was built up over twenty years, and saw them open three stores in London and gain worldwide recognition.

A LOOK FOR NOW

In 2013, Karen and Jason founded Kirk & Kirk, a legacy eyewear brand with a fresh outlook. Using directional design and vibrant colour, the award-winning duo’s signature has become its distinctive acrylic frames, traditionally crafted but light, flexible and durable.

Designed in the UK, the frames are handmade from start to finish in France using materials sourced from a single factory in Italy. Immediately recognisable for their style, shape and colour, Kirk & Kirk eyewear is synonymous with a sense of individuality and self-

2019: CELEBRATING 100

For 2019, to celebrate their 100 years legacy in optics, Kirk & Kirk introduces Centena. Ten colours and ten styles, resulting in 100 variations on the Kirk & Kirk signature.
